I had a tournament on November 13, 2010 and it was really fun.
It was a big tournament and it was in Toronto at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC). There were lots of people there and some where from JCCC, some were from Collingwood (which is where I came from) and some were from Wasaga Beach. Some of the people came from Alberta, 2 people were from Ireland and one person even came from Japan!!! We have tournaments to see who is the best in Canada. It is a Canadian Championship, just like last time. It felt good after the tournament because I came first in sparring (fighting), I came second in Team Kata (moves put together and do them in a team), and third in Individual Kata. It was really exciting because at the end of the tournament we got a big trophy that said, "Team with most medals and trophies" and it is really hard to get.

My Heavy Bag
August 23rd, 2010 - Georgian Triangle Karate Club
I got a heavy bag for my birthday. It was one of my favourite presents. My Nan and Pop gave it to me and gloves came with it. They gave it to me at my birthday party which was at a cottage my cousins were renting. I wanted a heavy bag because I wasn't very good at sparring and a heavy bag will help me improve. All you do is kick and punch it and that's what you need to be good at sparring. I plan on doing 50 kicks and 50 punches everyday so I can get ready for my tournament that is coming up.
Thanks Nan and Pop!!

How I got my Orange Belt
June, 2010 - Collingwood Ontario. Georgian Triangle Karate Club.
Just before our summer break we had a ranking at our club. A ranking is a special event where club members try and get their next belt.
Our Sensei invited six black belts from another club (Wasaga Beach) to judge the ranking. To get my orange belt I need to know; 10 Kihon Kumite, 8 Kata, Pinan Nidan and Kotai Ren. These are all basic moves of karate.
After I completed all these moves my sensei told me what I did well and what I need to improve. Then he congratulated me and told me if I got my belt or not.
It felt great to get my orange belt!

Why I Like Karate
I like karate because I was made for it. My sensei said that if I could do a kick right it would look awesome. I can stay down in horse stance for about four minutes. (but then I fall over).
My senseis are really good teachers because at the tournament we had 12 people and we brought home 21 trophy's.
I also like karate because it's fun. We still play some games like tag team sparring and number sparring. The sensei's are fun and sensei Norm gives up candy sometimes.
I like the other kids in the dojo. One kid is from my school class last year and another is in my class this year. I have known most of the kids for about 2 years.

How I Started in Karate
I started karate in Kelowna BC when I was six. I was a white belt back then and we just played games and learned the basic moves. Then I came to Ontario and I started again when I was seven at Shito-Ryu Itosu-Kai Canada. Now I am eight and I am a yellow belt and I just won my first trophy in a Canadian Championship tournament. It was really fun.
